Lucy Chan
Counsellor
I’m an integrative therapist who believes therapy should be a space where you feel heard, understood and accepted without judgement. We all have different experiences, needs and ways of coping, so I don’t believe there’s a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. I offer a warm, compassionate and collaborative space where you can bring whatever is going on for you. Whether you’re struggling with relationships, self-esteem, anxiety, life changes, past experiences, or simply feeling a bit stuck, we can work together to make sense of what you’re experiencing and what you might need. For me, the relationship we build in therapy is really important. My aim is to create a space where you feel comfortable enough to be honest, explore difficult emotions and gradually develop a deeper understanding of yourself.
I have experience working across a range of settings, including the charity sector, where I facilitated women’s support groups, as well as crisis services and community mental health team. I’ve also worked with addiction, grief and bereavement. As a former dancer and teacher, I have a particular interest in nervous system regulation and somatic bodywork, and in exploring the connection between what we experience emotionally and what we hold in our bodies.
Starting therapy can feel daunting, especially if you’re not used to talking about your thoughts and feelings. You don’t need to have everything figured out before you start — you can simply come as you are. Our sessions give you the time and space to slow down, reflect and talk about whatever feels important to you. I’ll listen without judgement and work alongside you to understand your experiences, emotions and patterns. Therapy is a collaborative process, so we’ll work at a pace that feels right for you. Some sessions might involve looking at your past and understanding where certain patterns have come from, while others may focus more on what’s happening for you in the present and finding ways to support you moving forward.
If you’re thinking about starting therapy or just want to find out a little more about how I work, please feel free to get in touch for a chat. There’s no pressure or expectation — it’s simply an opportunity to see whether working together might feel like the right fit for you.
