Terms of Service for Therapy Sessions

Please read this agreement carefully before your first session. By booking and attending therapy sessions with Inside Talk, you agree to these terms and conditions.

About Inside Talk

Inside Talk is a professional therapy practice offering individual, couples, and group counselling services both online and in-person. Our qualified therapists are registered with recognised professional bodies including BACP, BABCP, UKCP, and other accrediting organisations.

Appointment Policies

Scheduling and Attendance

  • Sessions are 50 minutes long and scheduled by mutual agreement
  • Regular weekly sessions are recommended for optimal therapeutic progress
  • Please arrive on time for your appointment - late arrivals may result in shortened sessions
  • For online sessions, please ensure you have a stable internet connection and private space

Cancellations can be made through our online portal, by email, or phone. Emergency situations will be considered individually.

Payment Methods

  • Payment is due at the time of booking or before each session
  • We accept credit/debit cards, bank transfers, and PayPal
  • Payment plans may be available - please discuss with your therapist
  • Receipts are provided automatically and can be used for insurance claims

Confidentiality and Privacy

What We Keep Confidential

Everything you share in therapy sessions is strictly confidential. We follow professional ethical guidelines and legal requirements to protect your privacy.

  • Session content and personal information shared
  • The fact that you are receiving therapy (unless you give consent)
  • Clinical notes and assessments
  • Payment and appointment information

Exceptions to Confidentiality

There are rare circumstances where we may need to break confidentiality to ensure safety and comply with legal requirements.

  • Risk of serious harm to yourself or others
  • Court orders or legal requirements
  • Safeguarding concerns (child protection)
  • Professional supervision (anonymised)

Your Rights and Responsibilities

Your Rights

  • Receive professional, ethical therapy services
  • Be treated with respect, dignity, and without discrimination
  • Access your therapy records (subject to professional guidelines)
  • End therapy at any time
  • Complain about services through our complaints procedure
  • Data protection rights under UK GDPR

Your Responsibilities

  • Attend sessions punctually and give adequate notice of cancellations
  • Engage honestly and openly in the therapeutic process
  • Pay fees on time according to agreed terms
  • Inform your therapist of any medication changes or other treatments
  • Respect your therapist's professional boundaries
  • Use therapy skills and insights responsibly

Professional Standards

Therapeutic Relationship

  • The therapeutic relationship is professional and boundaried
  • Dual relationships (social, business, or sexual) are not permitted
  • Gifts should not be exchanged between therapist and client
  • Contact outside of sessions should be limited to appointment-related matters

Professional Qualifications

Inside Talk therapists are either qualified and registered with recognised professional bodies, or training under clinical supervision. You can request information about your therapist's qualifications at any time.

Emergency Procedures

Inside Talk is not an emergency service. If you are in crisis, please contact emergency services or a crisis helpline immediately.

  • Brief email contact for appointment changes only

  • Additional sessions can be arranged if needed

Complaints and Concerns

We welcome feedback about our services. If you have concerns about your therapy or therapist, please let us know:

How to Complain

  1. Speak directly with your therapist (if comfortable)
  2. Contact our Clinical Director: clinical@insidetalk.co.uk
  3. Formal written complaint to: complaints@insidetalk.co.uk
  4. Contact the relevant professional body (BACP, BABCP, etc.)

We aim to respond to complaints within 5 working days and resolve issues within 28 days. All complaints are treated seriously and confidentially.

Agreement Acceptance

By booking and attending therapy sessions with Inside Talk, you confirm that you:

  • Have read and understood this counselling agreement
  • Agree to the terms and conditions outlined above
  • Understand your rights and responsibilities as a client
  • Consent to the therapeutic process and treatment approach
