Some Therapy and Counselling Frequently Asked Questions:

All therapeutic methodologies rely on establishing a strong therapeutic bond with your counsellor. The development of this trusting relationship is influenced by various factors, with the therapist’s specific theoretical approach being just one of them. At Inside Talk, we maintain the belief that it is a combination of factors that helps you to foster a meaningful, honest, and trusting connection with your therapist. We don’t advocate for or endorse any particular therapeutic school of thought over another, recognising the uniqueness of each.

Selecting a therapist is an inherently personal journey. Initially, the Inside Talk team will assist in pairing you with a potential counsellors based on the information gathered during your initial chat session. We recommend reviewing the profiles on our website and consider which counsellor resonates with you initially. The best way to determine if the match is suitable for you is to schedule a session. Following your first session with a counsellor, you may gain a sense of whether the fit aligns with your needs or not. If you decide to change therapists, our team can provide support to help you find a more fitting match.

The number of therapy sessions needed varies widely from person to person and depends on several factors, including the nature of the issues you’re addressing, your goals for therapy, and your personal preferences. There isn’t a one-size-fits-all answer, and therapists often work collaboratively with clients to determine an appropriate duration for therapy.
Some concerns may be addressed in a shorter time frame, while others, especially those deeply rooted or complex, may require more extended treatment.

Life can be unpredictable and there may be times you need to cancel a session. Therefore we request that when you make a booking with your therapist each week you ensure you choose a time which you are able to attend. We ask that you give 48 hours notice of cancellation. Should you give less than 48 hours notice you will be charged for the missed session.

As an affordable counselling service we rely on prompt payment of fees by clients to enable us to run our service smoothly. All sessions are charged at £36 per 50 minute session. Payments must be made by bank transfer. If you would like to pay in a monthly block, then this payment can be made at the start of each month.
